Rated tournaments in Munich: Elo and DWZ 17

In Germany a rated game can count twice: for the FIDE Elo list and for the DWZ, the national rating of the Deutscher Schachbund. The events here appear on FIDE's list of rated tournaments or say they are submitted for rating. Most are played at the Caissa Center on Frankfurter Ring, whose monthly blitz and rapid, Blitz-Masters, Rapid-Masters, Elo-Vierer, Sprint-Cup, five-week tournament and München-Cup follow one another through the year.

The district adds its open individual championship in the Whitsun school holidays, the OIS in Ismaning and the youth individual championship; the Munich chess festival plays its open around Whitsun as well. Clubs contribute the FC Bayern quickies, BrainGames in Fürstenfeldbruck and the Sternsinger benefit tournament in Obermenzing.
