About this list

Almost every way into a game in Munich runs through a fixed evening. The clubs of the Munich district meet once or twice a week, and several of them say plainly that visitors may sit down: Schachclub Ismaning welcomes players without membership, the FC Bayern chess department invites guests to its club evening, and Schachclub Sendling asks visitors to its playing place. The Caissa Center on Frankfurter Ring adds blitz, rapid and classical tournaments right through the month.

Away from the club rooms, ChessBar München plays a short rapid tournament every week in three bars, Boazn by the Ludwigsbrücke, Alter Simpl in Türkenstraße and Gehölz in Schellingstraße, and the Chess in Munich Meetup group plays casual games on Monday evenings at Café am Beethovenplatz. In Harlaching the Münchener Schachclub 1836 has renovated an outdoor chess installation, and the Stadtbibliothek Schwabing teaches chess to older people on alternate Wednesday mornings.
